power smile on me
Ratio:Film has taken an option on the exclusive rights of the Colen Brother’s eagerly awaited Power Smile On Me remake. The brothers notoriously destroyed the material for their award-winning original version in 2007, and have since been seeking a production team compatible with their vision for the project. They have taken the opportunity to spend considerable time and effort reworking the script with a view to realising an even better version of their original which was completed in early 2005.
The symbiotic relationship they have recently formed with Ratio will give them the time, space and support they need to realize their vision. Although the script is unfinished and hence still in development, Ratio already have significant interest from a number of financiers. As with Letting Go, (another Ratio:Film production) Rip Colen and Scope Colen have signed to co-direct. Richard Turner and Richard Hart of Ratio will produce.
Power Smile on Me is the story of Michael Hallam, who marries into one of the richest and most powerful families in New York. Neither this nor running one of the largest companies in the big apple is enough for him. Bored with a life that few of us could only dream of, Hallam spends much of his time using his money, power and charm to predatorily lure countless women into bed. Unbeknown to him, and as a result of a single decision he makes, his life takes a significant turn for the worse. Everything he has slips away at breakneck speed. The script reveals the fragility of life and how easily circumstances can conspire to make something that is solid rapidly melt away. Whilst power and money corrupt, greed is self destructive, and Hallam finds this out with devastating consequences.
